The film city of god is based around the life within a slum in brazil. The film is open about all of the negative activity that happens within the slum. The reason for this is that it helps to get the message across about how life withint the slums is extremely unplessent and how no one would really want to have this life style where everyday your on edge in fear for your life, not knowing if you will even make it to the end of the day alive. the films shows us that all characters have to live though this fear even the children. The film has alot of impact through showing the shocking points of the slum for example the fact that most of these children want to be involved with the violence of the slum, and those few that want to leave get drawn into the violence and die.
the film starts of begins in the 60's when the main characters are quite young then quickly skips forward ten years to the 70's with the main characters now adults where the film slows down again to give you a chance to catch up the film often refrences back in time to explain the reasoning behind certain characters. The film was set it the slums of brazil

How the progression in technology has affected the way films are made at Pinewood Studios
The progression in technology since pinewood studios opened in the 1930's has helped with the production of the films.
With access to new technology the people of pinewood studios have been able to use different techniques in order to achieve the same result and in certain cases they haven't even had to leave the studio.
Compared to the 1930's when Pinewood studios made their first film and would have been using a basic black and white camera to make a film to today where they have access to many different production facilities for example they have an indoor and out door water facility in for above/underwater shoots. as a result they are eliminating certain risks on the crew from shooting in an uncontrolled environment and it also means they can simulate required scenarios at a low risk to the actors.
Compared to the 1930's where at most they would have been able to film shoots with water however would of been highly unlikely to get a shot of someone under water due to the lack of technology available to them.
The water tanks used for filming at pinewood studios today also allow the creation of weightlessness on the actors as they can use the tanks to film in then using editing software they can take out certain features that make it obvious that they shot has been filmed underwater for example the bubbles formed around the actor from breathing.
Also with the likes of Green/blue screening they can place an actor against any background without them actually being there which means they could shoot an actor in a dangerous scenario without them actually having to live it, with the use of green screening you can also make scenarios that without the use of technology would be impossible to achieve.
From the use of technology pinewood studios are able to improve their productions with new interesting and exciting features without having to live through them
